Sarasota
County Parks and Recreation typically engages in a public
planning process for each new park development or significant
renovation of an existing park. The public planning process
varies from each park and depends on the size of the park, the
facilities proposed and the surrounding community. Typically a
draft concept plan (schematic drawing) is prepared to illustrate
the proposed improvements. The public is invited to either
develop this plan from the beginning or provide input as the
plan is developed. Prior to bringing the concept plan to the
Sarasota County Commission for approval, the plan is also
reviewed by the Parks Advisory Recreation Council (PARC). Upon
approval of the concept plan by the County Commission, staff
moves forward to obtain detailed design plans, permits and
construction specifications.
